5. 2 potatoes (peeled and chopped into bite-sized pieces)

6. 4 cups of water

7. Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. In a pot, heat up some oil and sauté the garlic and onion until fragrant.

2. Add in the beef and cook until it starts to brown.

3. Pour in the water and bring to a boil. Skim off any impurities that rise to the surface.

4. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot and let it simmer for 1 hour.

5. Add in the carrots and potatoes and continue to simmer for another 30 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.

6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

7. Serve hot with white rice or bread.
